China's economic growth may exceed 8% this year as Beijing is likely to continue to ease its policies to bolster the economy, the China Securities Journal reported Thursday, citing an official at a government think tank.
China's gross domestic product grew 7.6% in the second quarter from a year earlier, easing from expansion of 8.1% in the first quarter and the slowest pace since the first quarter of 2009.
The Chinese government has adopted a series of measures, such as interest-rate cuts and bank reserve requirement ratio reductions to boost growth.
The country's GDP growth is expected to stabilize in the third quarter and speed up in the fourth quarter, the newspaper quoted Li Kai, vice director of the State Information Center, as saying.
